Garrett Laroy Johnson is a sound and media artist, researcher, and theorist. His transdisciplinary work engages Guattarian process theory, politics and the production of subjectivity, computation and materialism, and post-psychoanalysis. Johnson teaches in Art, Technology and Sound Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and in the area of New Media Art at the University of Illinois Chicago. He holds a PhD in Media Arts and Sciences from Arizona State University and his dissertation, “Diagrammatic Media” (December 2022), motivates and describes alternative organizational techniques for inquiring media arts practice.
